Quiq acquires Snap to provide a combined conversation platform for users

Digital engagement platform Quiq has acquired Snap to provide a combined conversation platform for customers. Reports state that discussions were underway between both to create a combined offering for direct messaging on Instagram, which led to the move. Monetary details of the acquisition have not been disclosed.

Dismissing opinions that point to the Montana-based Quiq and New York-based Snaps being similar, Snaps CEO Christian Brucculeri stated that both were, in fact, complete complements to each other. Quiq CEO Mike Myer seconded Brucculeri’s point and stated that both these companies were akin to jigsaw puzzles on the floor that fit perfectly.

While Quiq focuses on customer service messaging- “a do-it-yourself approach,” Snaps looks at a managed service approach where it assists in the technical work for customers. Quiq also directs its energy towards a platform aspect, connecting with messaging channels like Apple Business Chat, Google’s Business Messages, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp. In comparison, Snap has a deep “natural language or conversational AI capability,” according to Myer.

Now with the entire Snaps team joining Quiq, Christian Brucculeri shall take over as the senior vice president of sales and customer success for the combined organization.

Quiq’s customer base is spread across platforms like Overstok.com, West Elm, Men’s Wearhouse, and Brinks Home Security. Snaps have the likes of Byrant, Live Nation, General Assembly, Clairol, and Nixon. Now post the merger, Brucculeri said that all these businesses shall now receive one single product to converse across what he calls “the full customer journey.”

Moreover, Myer recalls how the demand for Quiq’s offering was growing dramatically in the last six months of 2020. Snaps, in 2017, had raised $6M to expand its marketing platform for messaging.
