Outplay, an multi-channel sales engagement platform has announced that it has raised $7.3 million in a Series A funding round led by Sequoia Capital India.

According to a news release, the firm would utilize the funds to invest in technology and hire professionals worldwide.

Outplay was founded in 2019 to bring predictability to outbound sales and assist salespeople in talking to the appropriate prospect at the right time through the right channel. Outbound sales teams, according to the startup, generally utilize high-volume methods to increase revenue. This technique, however, is not scalable, and revenue eventually becomes a function of the outbound sales team’s size.

Outplay is committed to making outbound outreach data-driven so that sales teams are talking only to the warmest prospects at any given point across multiple channels, optimizing time and resources. The continued partnership with Sequoia Capital India is a testament to the fact that the sales engagement space, which is poised to be a $5.59 billion market by 2023, is a huge opportunity for Outplay.

Laxman Papineni, CEO of Outplay

The Outplay platform assists outbound sales teams in planning, executing, tracking, measuring, and optimizing interactions between organizations and their prospects across numerous channels such as email, phone, SMS, social media, and live chat.

The platform also provides assistance to guarantee that software adoption across client teams is completed in a matter of days. The business has expanded 4X in sales, 3X in staff size, and has clients in more than 50 countries after receiving $2 million in initial investment from Sequoia Capital India’s Surge earlier this year.

Outbound sales needs are evolving rapidly, and reps now need personalized, automated, and contextual tools to drive sales, which Outplay is successfully enabling. Sales reps spend an average of four hours per day on Outplay, demonstrating the effectiveness of the product, which has category-leading customer reviews.

Additionally, rapid digitization due to COVID-19 has been a significant accelerant for the business, and we believe these tailwinds will continue as outbound sales become more digital.
