Gr4vy (pronounced as gravy), a no-code payment orchestration platform simplifying payments solutions for businesses, has raised $11.1 million Series A funding led by Nyca Partners. Fintech investor Activant Capital, Global Founders Capital, and Firestartr had also participated in the financing round, taking Gr4vy’s total funding to $12.2 million.

What’s different?

John Lunn, Founder and CEO of Gr4vy, recalls how every retailer builds the same piece of software in the payments space from his experience. Starting with a single payments processor, when businesses grow, the orchestration platform built which routes payments to the directed destination turns complex. John then envisioned the idea of a software that orchestrates payments as per the retailers’ will. Combining cloud and payments orchestration on one platform, Gr4vy provisions management and control of payments’ flow at the front and back ends.

Everyone is building pipes but not building the plumbing. Companies were building something to process payments, but as those got varied, the merchant had to build a system to manage the pipes. Instead of repeating this, Gr4vy is taking the payments team into the cloud and allowing the financial people to run it.” John states.

The launch of Gr4vy ( 2020) also becomes significant for online retailers as the world now transits largely into online shopping due to the pandemic.

Commenting on the investment, Hans Morris, managing partner of Nyca Partners, lauded John and his team at Gr4vy for their experience and insight in international payments and added,

“Their vision of what is needed for merchants is spot-on: a cloud-native tool to let businesses orchestrate and optimize their payments using their intuitive interfaces (no engineering!), robust security, and simple, seamless implementation. Much easier than managing today’s menu of complex, multiple payment platforms.”

Steve Sarracino, Founder and Partner at Activant Capital, also expressed delight in working with John and Gr4vy team.

As investors focused on the future of commerce infrastructure, we’re eager to continue working with John and the Gr4vy team as they simplify payments orchestration for merchants and marketplaces of all sizes,” Steve added.
