San Francisco and Hyderabad-based Fireflies.ai, a voice intelligence and AI assistant provider, have raised $14 million in a Series A funding led by Khosla Ventures.
As per reports from Fireflies’ statements, the proceeds shall be used to grow its team size, which is, at present, distributed across five countries and 12 cities. The capital shall also be invested in engineering technologies such as GPT-3 and in scaling core engineering efforts to support customer demand. They also aim to scale up hiring across their engineering, customer, and marketing teams and acquire new customers.
Founded in 2016, Fireflies offer an AI meeting assistant for video-conferencing platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and others to record, transcribe and make searchable meeting notes. It rolled out its voice assistant in January 2020 for all the video-conferencing platforms. It has taken notes for over 2 million users across 2,000,000 organizations thus far, reports, quoting its statements, added.
Coupled with its note-taking tools and deep-learning technologies like AI-powered transcriptions, Fireflies’ virtual assistant transcribes this data using a search filter, allowing users to filter for crucial moments. Fireflies can also plug these gathered voice data into other applications such as Slack and Salesforce.

According to Crunchbase, their total funding now stands at $19 million with the close of this funding round. The previous funding was a Seed round in 2019 led by Canaan Partners, from whom they had raised $4.9 million.
