Commvault, a global leader in data protection and management, has rolled out their Metallic-Backup-as-a-service (BaaS) solutions in the UAE and the wider middle east.
Powered by their venture, Metallic, the BaaS solutions include enterprise-grade offerings such as Office 365 Backup and Recovery, Endpoint Backup Recovery, and Core Backup Recovery.
These shall now help their customers in seamlessly addressing their business issues such as cost, scalability, and, importantly, security. Emphasis on security has been laid owing to the accelerated cloud migration amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This is where Metallic BaaS solutions offer not just ease of management and infrastructure saving but also data protection.
Last year, in June, Commvault’s multi-year entered a strategic agreement with Microsoft, announcing the integration of Microsoft’s Azure and Commvault’s Metallic to enable data protection enhanced by a ‘multi-layered security.
Thanks to the integration, Metallic is able to use Azure’s secure and compliant platform offerings in addressing General Data Protection (GDPR) compliance at a rudimentary level. Metallic now delivers comprehensive BaaS solutions with a “single pane of glass management” across SaaS and other hybrid workloads.
To be GDPR compliant, companies must adhere to the predetermined standards of security, confidentiality, and resilience. Metallic delivers the capability to monitor as well as fulfill such compliance policies along with types and amounts of data stored to users.
Thrilled on the rollout, Wael Mustafa, Area Vice President, Middle East, South Africa, and Turkey, MESAT, at Commvault; feels that it shall accelerate the availability of their BaaS solutions globally to help users manage a pandemic-induced sudden shift to remote working.
“Businesses are making a move to the cloud, and while this provides them with agility and flexibility, it is critical that data and information are protected in line with regulations. Commvault’s backup solutions, including Metallic, provide unmatched flexibility with a breadth of enterprise workload support and rapid pace of innovation,” he added.
